A photo reportage taken during the 90's terror war in Algiers. Between 1995 and 1999
Victims of the Islamist terror celebrating life!

Cut off from the rest of the world, lock down and military curfew at 8 pm. The people of Algiers were living in total fear, under the Islamists menace. Even though they had no freedom nor technology, they partied like if there was no tomorrow. Uncertainty of a future, a certain death by decapitation if they took the wrong turn or got caught by the islamists. But music and dancing were their only companions to survive an Islamist dark age.

There was no open clubs due to the Islamist menace, no locations and nearly impossible to move after dark due to the military curfew. But they did party and hard!

A population in despair trapped between two factions. their daily hymn was the gusts of bullets and bombs.

But! Let it be house, let it be rock, let it be rai, let it be chaabi and let it be pop!

This is a tribute to the victims of the Islamist menace that reigned over the Algerian civilians during the 90's war against terror
